hmltd west of eden album review

review

i found this album through the grapevine, and i dont understand how these bands dont have more listens

some of them just dont have the exposure, but this album got pretty good press and the band still is just above 90k listens a month

for one album i guess that isnt bad but you would just assume word of mouth would get them a bit higher than that

on that note

this album is good – its fun – its exciting – it has a lotttttt of things going on

there’s poppy hits like mikeys song and nobody stays in love

there’s songs about gender dysphoria (joanna and wheres joanna)

there’s the casual western epic production thrown in here and there

and then there’s the social commentary on celebrity culture, materialism, capitalism, and all the other types of isms sprinkled all throughout the album

its an extremely dynamic album where every song feels different and exciting – it doesnt just hit one sound in song after song

it is very good on switching things up

every time im like okay this song is great it just finds this cool thing to add that just blows my mind and takes the song to another level

things like the dark switch-ups in to the door, the girl vocalist at the end of satan, luella and i, and the catchy as hell I HEARD IT in mikeys song

theyre just little things but those little things make these songs seem so full and all-encompassing

as to negative things, i dont really have much to say

i personally would have liked blank slate to be the last song of the album, but maybe im just missing something

the only song i dont love is probably just war is looming, aside from that great album

looking forward to the next project which should be out at some point this year, i think?

great album 4/5 (how do these bands have so few listens?)
