wwoman let us sleep together review

review

this album was quite a mixed bag

i enjoyed the sound of it

it was other worldly and dreamy; the instrumentals were charming and the vocals added to that feeling of just floating

songs such as waste our summer, new ferments, and don in space are both my favorite songs and great examples of this

hearing “pleaseee dont leaveee pleasee dont leavee im still dreaming of youuu” while those keys are playing is just a magical feeling

the lyrics leave much to be desired at points, but it doesnt seem as if that is the aim of this project

another thing is that certain songs did cross the line into abrasive – such as we came home in the dark and let us sleep together

it is not that i didnt like the songs because i did but it felt as if they tried to do too much with for example, the synths(wchitd) or the sirens (lust) a bit more restraint would’ve gone a long way in making this songs more appealing, especially on repeated listens

two instrumentals in a 10 song project is also a bit much – the album is only 34 minutes long

i would have rather have an additional song instead of those two minute long instrumentals

with that being said, i think it overall does a great job of not overstaying its welcome

it had a sound in mind, and it stuck to it and did it well

nice album, deserves more listeners than it has (top song has only 27k) 3/5
